Rachel Mauk is a Research Scientist and Assistant Director of Applied Research and Analysis at GRC, overseeing the Instrumental Data section. Rachel's interests are health care quality measure development and implementation, technical assistance on data and analysis for state agencies, and creating data pipelines for dashboard work. They serve as a PI on multiple projects including Data Analytics, Medicaid Health Informatics, Comprehensive Maternal Care Analytics, and 1115 SUD Waiver Monitoring. In addition, Rachel supports GRC projects and staff as a subject matter expert on Medicaid claims data and SAS coding.

Rachel holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Ohio State University with a focus on hurricane climatology. Prior to moving into health care analytics, they worked as a NASA intern, a data manager for OSU's Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park, and a lecturer for introductory Earth Science and advanced meteorology classes. Rachel started at GRC in 2014 as a Graduate Research Assistant, gaining experience in health care data analytics. They joined GRC full-time in 2016 and became a Research Scientist in 2020. Rachel previously served an Associate Editor for the American Meteorological Society journal Monthly Weather Review, and won a 2021 AMS Editor's Award for service to the journal. Outside of work, Rachel is a longtime volunteer in the Columbus performing arts community including ushering and running Picnic with the Pops.
